Year 6 Writing Celebration
On Thursday 8th March the children who have had
1 to 1 writing support shared examples of their wonderful writing with a group of staff and parents. All the children read a piece of work aloud, and afterwards celebrated with tea and cake.
Well done to all the Year 6 children who took part!
Here are some photos of the celebration and some examples of their fantastic writing.

The stranger’s diary entry
Yesterday I staggered into town because I was hungry. When the islanders saw me, they strengthened the doors. They treat me like an animal because they give me animal scraps to eat. Why do the islanders make me feel so uncomfortable? Staring at me were the frightened children whose mums had told them not to come near. I feel scared inside but I want to be brave in front of them. In the middle of the goat pen I am cold, lonely and worried about what is going to happen.

The stranger’s diary entry
Yesterday I travelled on a raft to this mysterious island. When the islanders saw me, they all ran away. I was confused – I did not know what was happening. Roughly some people grabbed me from behind and pushed me into a goat pen. I tried to escape but they locked the gate. They are treating me like a pig and they feed me scraps. I went through a window into the town but everyone was scared of me. Why did I build a raft and sail here? What’s going to happen if they find me out here?

The Storm
I am on my wooden raft. The clouds glide above me across the dark gloomy sky. The waves creep behind me out of the gloom. The white horses gallop beside me. I can see an island on the horizon. Will I be able to get there in time or will I die? My raft is swirling and coming apart. The dangerous ocean seas can suck me in. I can smell my own fear. I can hear the howling winds. I can sit and twitch all night on my half gone raft. The waves rise and descend every minute. I could die…….
